Hossein Parsaii, the Director of the Center for Dramatic Arts, Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance for Artistic Affairs, Mohammad-Hossein Imani Khoshkhu and several cultural officials of East Azarbaijan province made short speeches at the awards ceremony held at the Iqbal Azar Hall in Tabriz.
Actor Ali Nasirian, a member of the event’s jury, also made a short speech at the ceremony in which he told the participants not to worry whether or not they had won an award, saying, “The main aim of these types of events is that experienced people get together with youth in order to display their talents.”
He expressed regret that Iranian plays have not been given much consideration over recent years, adding, “We must pay more attention to our roots and identity in theater. Iranian drama is rooted in narration and curtain-reading (a raconteur tells a story depicted on a painted hanging curtain) which have long been ignored.”
Nasirian invited the Center for Dramatic Arts and the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) to hold workshops for young people to help salvage the artistry and traditions of Iranian theater.
Afterwards, winners were announced by the jury members who included Nasirian, Mahmud Azizi and Amir Dejakam.
